So if your market is pets, that’s a broad topic, so get specific like pet obedience, or pet grooming, and so on. The reason being is that there from the same group or niche but easier to sell that product.

Step #3  Advertising your product:  There are various ways to advertise your product.  If you have a small marketing budget, you can use pay per click advertising. Another method is to use Article Marketing.  Articles are just a short editorial about a product or service and you can put links there that directs people back to your product.  There are thousands of these article directories online and there is software you can purchase, to do the submitting for you. Some of the larger article directories require manual submittion.  When using this directories you always want to submit original content, so you don’t get banned.

Step #4  Leveraging Affiliates:  Another way is to have affiliates market the product for you. Finding affiliate agents such as clickbank, can get you product sales the only drawback, is that you will need to split the products with the affiliate, but its a win win situation, because both parties will be in profit.  This is mainly used, if you have your own product.

Step #5 Traffic to your Product:  Increasing traffic to your product is vital for sustained profits.  Using Search Engine Optimization is crucial so people can find what your selling.  Using Blogs, Web 2.0 properties such as Squidoo lens, Hub Pages, Knols, and various other sites will help get you visability and popularity to your site.  Also, using backlinks can help you reach the first page of the Search Engines.  All backlinks are, is basically your links on other pages, that direct people back to your site.  For example if you product 100 articles, with links in them, that will give you 100 links back to your site, which in turn will boost your ranks in the search engines.
